Question
i have an old franklin#3 style stove made by portland foundry in main....it wooks great but im burning a LOT of wood....is there a trick to get the wood consumption down?
also im having an issue with a large amount of smoke when i open the doors up to check it...any suggestions???

Answer
With the age of this stove they burn wood like its going out of style. That's just the way these are. If you replace it with a new wood stove then you will have combustion control for sure.

When you open the door try opening it slowly and open it about an inch for a few seconds then opening it the whole way and that should do the trick for the smoke issue.
