Question
Steve,

I have a Martin Industries DBC36 Fireplace (insert, wood burining). They went out of business. I would like to add a blower to improve heating efficiency. The fireplace ID plate calls for Blower Model LFBL28. Can I still get one of these? If so, from where? If not is there a replacement model that you know of? I also need to add the electrical outlet for the blower. Can I use a regular outlet or do I need something special due to the heat? Thanks for any help.

Joe

Answer
Normally the plug gets run externally. I don't like to have a plug in outlet in the firebox because of the heat that a wood insert can emit.

As for finding a blower that is made for your unit. This will be tough since the manufacturer is out of business. You might be able to find another blower that is similar and be able to retro fit it into your insert.

Best of luck.
