Question
I recently installed a Class A system up the side of my house with the stove pipe( Class A ) coming direactly thru the wall to a tee box ! Now as the 3 four foot sections go up the side of my house the top piece of pipe touches and overhang of shingles ever so slightly ! This area is 8 feet from the tee ! Should I be concerned or is the zero clearance rating satisfactory for this circumstance ! I really don't want to cut the shingle ! Tom
Please help !

Answer
Hello Tom, most "Class A Chimney's" I have seen require a 2" clearance to combustibles what does your pipe say about clearance? Is it "zero" then you are ok, if it is 2" then you either have to install an of set or space out the whole pipe system 2" off the wall.
you must also check with your local building department
