Question

photo of gas vent
The sheet metal pipe on the other side of this vent is something like " to 10" in diameter.  It was manufactured by Baker, in San Francisco, which doesn't seem to exist any more.  In the middle the pipe is 4".  Do you know what they call this type of vent?

Can I attach a B-Vent gas heater to this?

Answer
Hello Mick, I am not sure what you have there and do not connect any thing to it until we know for sure, I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep www.csia.org, there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have they should be able to help.
Hope this helps
James

CommentI've seen these around before. This one was hooked up to a gas heater in the apartment before, but the tenant threw it away when it broke so we don't have the heater or the pipe which went into the wall anymore. Thanks for taking a look at it. We have someone local coming out to take a look. There used to be a gas kitchen stove hooked up to a second similar pipe going up to the roof. Thanks again for taking a look.
