Chimney & Fireplaces/woodstove chimney

Question
Hello James, Our attic filled with smoke the last time we built a fire in the wood stove.  It was also very difficult to get the fire going in the first place. Concerned about starting a house fire, that was the last we have built.  Any ideas? The house was built in 1996, we have owned it for a year.  I have no idea when the chimney was cleaned last if ever.

Answer
Hello Lisa, it sounds like Negative pressure (yes even in an attic) I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep www.csia.org, there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have they should be able to help.
Hope this helps
James
