Question
I live in British Columbia Canada and I have a home that was built between 1979-1982 with two fireplaces with a heatilator insert in both when the inspector came to the house to inspect the fireplaces he could not find the tag or number to these heatilators my question is were they CSA approved during that time and if so where are the tags or numbers? Thank you

Answer
Hello Dawn, they put those tags in the back, inside, front....all over. You might have to pull the units to see if you can find them.
I would also have a local Certified Chimney Sweep (www.csia.org, there you can look up by zip code to find one near you I hope in Canada) take a first hand look at what you have they should be able to help. and make sure the units are installed correctly and safe to use.
