Question
can condensation from a chimney cause damage to the plaster wall covering it, and if so what is the best solution to solving the problem?

Answer
Hello Justin, yes water can seep through a wall from out side water (rain and snow) and inside from a natural gas heating unit (in most cases)if you have a blockage then the condensation from that unit will seep through.
I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep (www.csia.org, there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have they should be able to help.
