Chimney & Fireplaces/Adding another fireplace

Question
I have a basement that I want to finish out and have a fireplace similar to that
above. This is a 95-year-old house with the traditional log-burning fireplace. Is
there anyway from directly underneath to add a fireplace and somehow use the
existing chimney?

Answer
Hello Philip, to install in your existing chimney you would need an existing un used flue. not common. you might be able to install a Pre Fab fireplace and chimney next to your existing chimney.
I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep (www.csia.org, there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have they should be able to help.
