Question
We had our chimney rebuilt 6 months ago and ever since has been leaking water through the mortar cap covering on top of chimney.I have recently talked to my roofer who did not build the chimney and he said the brickie did not insert a tray, the brickie does not want to know.I have tried sealing the mortar with no success, have you any ideas.

Answer
Hello Lisa, I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep (www.csia.org, there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have they should be able to help.
I think you are telling me it is a masonry chimney and it is the crown that is leaking
