Chimney & Fireplaces/damage to slate floor protector under stove

Question

damaged slate
Our renters decided to chop wood on the floor protector and badly damaged several pieces of slate.  Is it possible to somehow cut out those pieces and replace (assuming we can find matching slate and grout)? If we need to replace the whole protector what would be an apx cost for that? It's a standard size stove installed along the middle of a wall.  Attached is photo of the damage.  Thanks for any help you can provide!

You'll need to replace the entire protector.

I don't have a price for you.  I recommend you consult a local hearth shop.
