Chimney & Fireplaces/CHIMNEY SWEATING

Question
MR. BALL,

I have noticed when it is real hot that my chimney is sweating it appears from the attic down the chimney to the inside of my kitchen.  The brick is showing wet signs.  Last year I insulated my garage and I have noticed this happening since.  I don't believe it is coming in from the roof.  The area is very difficult to get to because of tight rafters.  I am guessing I am not getting good circulation but not sure what I need to due to try and stop this from happening.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hello Roger, hard to say with out seeing it, I have never seen a chimney sweat (like a toilet on a hot summer day) I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep (www.csia.org, there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have they should be able to help.
Hope this helps
James
