Question
Hi Randy-
I recently had a crumbling masonry chimney replaced by a 7 inch stainless steel one for my gas boiler and water heater.
Now I'm left with an unsightly steel pipe running up the side of my house - not to mention the exposed housewrap from where the old chimney used to be - since it was much larger.
What can I do to cover this up?  I'd like to build a frame the size of the old chimney to meet the existing siding, and coat it with stone veneer or siding if I can find a match.
What kind of structural and/or waterproofing steps must i take?

You will want to contract with a framing contractor. The chase structure is much like if not exactly like the framed house. There will be securement requirements and weather barrier requirements and such that you will want done by a professional. The chimney system used to vent your appliances will have specific clearance requirements as well that will need to be factored in. Hope this helps.
