Question
I am a CSIA certified chimney sweep in new jersey (6101)Wondering if you could provide some info as to whether or not it is acceptable to downsize a 7-inch G.E oil furnace with a .90 gph and a steady state eff. of 80% to a six inch liner. any info, codes, etc... would be helpful as we are dealing with a town inspector.

Great question. My area of expertise doesn't include oil venting as I have never serviced or installed a liner for an oil appliance in my 20+ year career. That being said, I know just the person for you to ask the question of. Using the sweep locator at www.csia.org, find John Pilger from the Long Island area of New York. He is all knowing concerning gas venting and the one I would trust. Hope this helps and good luck.
