Chimney & Fireplaces/dual use chimney

Question
Hello.  I have a fireplace on the outside wall that shares our pool area.  On the pool side, I would like to add the use of a grill to the existing chimney.  Is it ok to put in an additional flue inside the chimney for this purpose and if so is it just so simple as to add one?  expense?  Is there any such diagram you can direct me to for roughing in the space?  thanks so much, Kay

Answer
Hello Kay, if I understand you correctly you want to change the exiting fireplace  to make it a BBQ grill instead? If so I would start with your local building dept. and a good mason. not sure about cost depending on how much you need to do and how intricate you get with the new set up.
hope this helped
