Chimney & Fireplaces/firerplace

Question
how close to a door can a firerplace be?

Answer
Hello Tom, I am not sure what you are asking me? is this a prefab or masonry fireplace? if it is a prefab then you must check with the manufacturer, if it is a masonry fireplace then check with your local building department, even if this was pre existing in a home you just bought do not use it until you solve this issue or you could cause a fire.
I would also have a local Certified Chimney Sweep (www.csia.org, there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have they should be able to help.
Hope this helps
James
