Question
I have an Earthstove 1003C series and I believe I need to replace the catalytic. I cannot believe how much they cost, between 210 and 280 dollars. Will the stove operate weel without one? Thank you

You will want to refer to the manufactures installation and operating instructions for replacement procedures. If you don't have this manual, you can get it from www.lennoxhearthproducts.com. Traditionally, a cat will survive for between 10,000 and 12,000 hours of operation. There are specific instructions for operation of the cat in the manual. The cat should never be engaged before the unit reaches 600 degrees. As for the cost, if you have the listed parts number, shop online. I recommend you have a CSIA certified chimney sweep sweep your flue annually at the least and replace all parts as required with only OEM listed parts. Hope this helps.
