Question
I purchased a new fireplace screen with glass doors for my wood burning fireplace. The frame is taller than the old one and covers the damper control knob. Is there an alternative way that I can control the damper if the knob is covered? Something else I can install that I can access from inside the fireplace that allows me to open and close the damper?

The intended way for your damper to be operated is through the knob you describe. I would replace the glass door with a unit that fit your fireplace opening. attempting to alter the function of the damper may do damage and cause greater issues. I wish I could be of more help. Best of luck.
