Question
Recently we have had some major water damage on dry wall from rain water entering through the direct vent exhaust pipe

Nobody wants to take responsibility for the damage ($1500-2000) and we need some answers

Is it necessary to install a rain cap or such over direct vent exhaust pile - is this standard procedure

Is the entry to the exhaust pipe supposed to tilt towards the wall of the house

What you describe is not normal. I would contact the local licensing board for assistance. If your product has been installed incorrectly, you may have a fire safety issue as well. Also try the manufacture of the appliance. if it was installed by an authorized dealer, you may get some help there. good luck.
