Chimney & Fireplaces/leaking fireplace?

Question
I have a beautiful fireplace, bricks run up to ceiling. When it rains, I have water running down the front of the bricks. Had a new roof put on, that didn't help. Had the bricks treated and a few small cracks repaired. What else can I do?

It sounds like either the flashing or the chimney crown itself. Sometimes a new roof doesn't include new flashing or the roofer just didn't replace it. In the case of the chimney crown, the water absorbs through it rather than shedding off of it. You mentioned having the chimney water proofed and thats good. I would further recommend an NFPA-211 level II inspection of your chimney system to determine if water is an issue elsewhere in the system.
