Chimney & Fireplaces/No Ignition

Question
My pilot is lit but when I turn the wall switch on nothing happens.
The fireplace does not light and there appears to be no movement in the pilot flame that would suggest it is trying to light.

Answer
I see this question pop up quite often.

If your switch for the fireplace is a like a light switch then I would suggest taking the switch off the wall and crossing the wires together. If the fireplace comes on then all that needs to be done is to buy a new wall switch.

If the fireplace still doesn't come on then I would get someone to come in and do a service call to the fireplace to see what it could be.

It's almost always the wall switch. If your not comfortable with taking the wall switch off the wall to test it then I would call a service technician to come in and service the fireplace.

Hope this helps.
