Question
I have a Superior FirePlus-38 fireplace that was installed in my home in 1994. I am considering having it converted to a Eiklor gas log system (Ultimate 5). Must I keep the glass doors on the fireplace (the screen is still in place) after the conversion? Can the glass doors tolerate the heat generated by the gas? Thank you.

You will want to check the manufactures installation instructions to determine if the Superior FirePlus - 38 has any restrictions on gas logs themselves or BTU input limitations if it will accept them. I cannot find a manual on-line but maybe you have one. you can also call Lennox Hearth Products as they purchased superior many years ago. All the same, I recommend the glass doors be left open during operation with gas or wood. I hope this helps and good luck.
