Question
Wewant to install a woodstove in the basement at the cottage ...how big will the hole have to be that goes through the concrete? Thank You

Answer
Well, it's going to depend on how big the diameter of the chimney is. Every chimney manufacturer except for one (ICC-Excel) has a 2" wall of insulation on their pipes. So if you have a 6" chimney then the pipe will be 10" in Diameter (if it's Excel/ICC chimney then it would be an 8" Diameter). When going through concrete then the diameter of the hole should be a little bit bigger than the diameter of the chimney. When the chimney is installed there will be a plate installed on the outside where the Tee will be installed and sealed all around that plate. Inside there will be a plate that is installed around the chimney on the wall and sealed.

If you already have chimney then I would speak with a local dealer who carries that chimney and ask them to be sure.

If you are purchasing chimney then I would speak with the salesperson to be sure.

I hope this helps out.
