Chimney & Fireplaces/installing gas unvented gas logs

Question
We have just bought a home with a Martin Industries prefab wood burning fireplace. We want to install unvented gas logs in the fireplace. Is it safe to do so? We have man who is licensesed in heating & cooling who said it is okay. What is your option? A local store that sells prefab fireplaces and gas logs also believes it is okay. The house is about 20 years old and the fireplace was installed when built. We do plan on having the chimney cleaned even though the vent will be closed with the unvented logs, so that there will be no ordor from the chimney.

Answer
In my opinion if your Heating/Cooling guy and the local store say it's alright to put them in then you should be fine.

Truth be told I'm in Canada and we're not allowed to use Unvented logs/Fireplaces so my experience with them is quite limited.

Hope this helps and Enjoy the logs.
