Question
I have a wood burning insert in my home that was determine to have the pipe at the top of the insert disconnected so the smoke leaks out and doens't go though the pipe out the top of the chimeny. What's the best way to repair this issue?

Answer
Hello Tim, that pipe must go to the first flue tile minimum, I recommend that is is lined with a SS liner that is insulated. The stove works  much better this way and is easier to clean. to re attach the pipe you should be able to slide the top front plate up and off and then reach in and re attach the pipe. Check the owners manual and your local building department for correct installation.
I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep www.csia.org, (there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have they should be able to help.
Hope this helps
