Chimney & Fireplaces/manufactured firplace smell when in use

Question
We have a Majestic manufactured, wood burning fireplace and have been using for about 18 years no problem. However, we now have an odor (almost like a burning plastic) when we use it. We do have new glass doors (from Majestic) and thought maybe the smell is something "burning off" but it has not gone away. We did have a granite surround put on  a couple of years ago..could the small be from an adhesive? We cannot figure it out. Thank you!

Answer
Hello Michele, not sure what that smell might be, could you have put some thing plastic in the firebox that melted and might still be burning (did you clean out the ashes), I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep www.csia.org, there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have they should be able to help.
Hope this helps
James
