Question
Hi, our house has a 1970 prefab chimney with an outer 13" metal tube and an
inner 8" metal tube. The space between is air cooled. I would like to vent a wood
stove up the chimney. Can I use the existing 8" pipe? If so, should I add
insulating material between the pipes instead of air cooling? Thank you for your
help.

Hi Don,

You should NEVER use this type of flue system to vent a wood stove or insert.

ONLY use a system that is listed to the UL103HT standard (2100 degrees).  The system you are referencing is listed to a lower standard and is NOT designed for what you are planning.
