Question
We have a fireplace insert that does have legs to be freestanding.  Is there a way to hook it up to the furnace in the garage to use the duckwork to spread the heat?

Answer
Hello Kelly, no you can not, an insert is for use in a fireplace, not free standing, and can not be used use with your furnace and in most towns/cities can not have a wood stove in a garage.
they do make wood fired furnaces but you would need a professional to install  it and check with your local  building department
