Question
I have to raise a chimney six feet using an 8 inch flue. how many brick will i need for this.

Answer
Hello Ron, I would say measure down 6 feet, then see how many brick layers are in those 6 feet (or 1 foot then times 6) then count how many bricks you have in one row all the way around and do the math, how many rows "x" how many bricks in each rows "=" how many you need. The 8" flue should be 2' long so 3?, and it should have an air space around the flue, then when you re do the crown you fill that space with flexible sealer (silicone)
als check with your local building department for any thing needed before you attempt like this, height requirements, special cement/mortar, permits...
