Chimney & Fireplaces/use old chimney

Question
I am replacing my fireplace. My old Majestic fireplace used a double wall
chimney (8" flue and a 13 1/2" outside pipe). The new Majestic fireplace also
uses a double wall (8" flue and an 11" outside pipe). I'm also lowering the
fireplace 4 inches. Can I use the old chimney using an 8" x 4" long adapter for
the flue and an 11" to 13 1/2" x 4 inch long adapter for the outside pipe or
will I have to replace the whole chimney?

Answer
Hello Pino, unless Majestic makes a that adapter you are talking about  then no you can not you must replace every thing, why would you leave a 20+ year old metal chimney in place and just change out the fireplace these are designed and used as a complete system do not replace only part of it.
If you did this "adapter" I would not even clean this chimney knowing it would not be safe to use.
sorry
James
