Chimney & Fireplaces/Flue Caps

Question
I recently purchased a home that has 3 tiled flues that go up the center of the home in a single chimney.  Only one of the tiled flues is in use.  Is there a way to cap (close off) the other two flues at the top of the chimney to cut down on heat loss during the winter months.
thanks for your help

Answer
Hello Michael, before you close them off be sure nothing is venting into them (fireplaces you might do better with a top mount damper to open and close when you want to from a fireplace), some homes are built with "extra/dummy" flues and you could just cut a piece of sheet metal and silicone it in place.
be sure they are not in use or would not be used in a pinch (black out and try to use the fireplace)
