Question
We had a wood burning stove on each of our 2 floors (basement & livingroom)sharing the same chimney.  We recently removed the stove from the uuper floor  permanently. How do I safely seal the 7" hole left from the pipe on the chimney?

Answer
Hello Carol, there should never have been 2 stoves in the same flue, I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep www.csia.org, (there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have they should be able to help.
Hope this helps
James
