Question
I have a pre fab selkirk chimney on the outside of my house . It is about 12 inches from the outside wall , and is fastened to the outside of the eve . Is this legal , or does the eve have to be notched , and the chimney run through the eve ?

Answer
Hello Stuart, not sure what you have with out a picture or seeing it, but most Class "A" chimneys are only allowed 2-35 degree bends to "kick out around an eve", to be sure it is safe check with your local building department and I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep www.csia.org, (there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have, they should be able to help.
Hope this helps
