Hi ya xx season greetings.I have found this site and my landlord is away so I thought I would ask you the question. All of a sudden I have gained a wax crayon smell never had it before x the lining in the back of the chimney has cracked I have had a local chimney sweep look at it and he said should se me thru the winter x butthis smell has come and I don't know if it is safe to burn ! I don't have central heating so this is my only source of heat xx please respond as I awainting your advicexx thank s in advance julie xxx

Hello Julie, did some thing get thrown in the fire by mistake? (kids do even adults miss stuff) not sure how bad of a crack you have or if this is a pre fab fireplace? I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep www.csia.org, (there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have, they should be able to help.
