Chimney & Fireplaces/ash chute clogged

Question
My chute is clogged approx. 2 feet from the base of the fireplace floor.  I've tried to dislodge whatever is obstructing it by poking it with a metal rod, but so far no luck.  Any suggestions?

Answer
Hello David, did you try poking from the bottom? if it is clogged  and brakes free it might puff into the room, wear a mask, and protection and run a good shop vac. or I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep www.csia.org, (there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have, they should be able to help.
Hope this helps
