Chimney & Fireplaces/leaks in chimney

Question
When it rains heavily, as it has been doing in Georgia for the past several months, I've noticed water at the base of my chimney in my sun room.  The sun room is built on slab is external to the general living quarters and its floor is two feet below that of the rest of the house. I have been under my house and have seen no signs of moisture near the base of the chimney. I have also dug into the ground a on the side of the sun room nearest to the chimney and have seen no signs that the water is coming from that side of the sun room. Can you give me an explanation of where this water is coming from and what I should do?

Answer
Hello Kenneth, has any one looked at the top of the chimney crown? Do you have a cap on top? both area's would let water into the chimney and it would leak out right were you say it is. I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep www.csia.org, (there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have they should be able to help.
Hope this helps
James
