Chimney & Fireplaces/Heatilator

Question
I am purchasing a home that has a heatilator built into the old wood burning fireplace, it is a nice unit.  My Home Inspector pointed out that it is defective because the Fireplaces origional Flue was disconected.  I have been told by several people that this is normal in order for the heatilator to operate correctly, is this the case?  Thank You

Answer
Hello Scott, not sure what you have or if it is working properly, I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep www.csia.org, (there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have they should be able to help.
Hope this helps
James
