Question
On my chimney about 10 years ago I had a guy put stucco over the brick chimney. Instead of dumb me have someone come out and tuck point the bricks, he said I could save money by doing this. So, he covered the chimney with stucco. The problem was he didn't seal the stucco afterwards. I've had a leak in the hallway in one area. I've had a saddle put around the chimney which helped, but still leaked especially during the winter thaw. I then had a new chimney cap put on the chimney, because the old one was to small. This guy told me to get a sealant and put over the stucco that goes on vertically. I told him by son had kilzed it, but he said that don't work. What kind of sealant could I put over the stucco to make sure it won't work. He said make sure that the sealant will contract and expand with the weather. Thank you
