Chimney & Fireplaces/Reducing Chimney Pipe

Question
We have an 8in chimney pipe and would like to know if we can reduce the chimney pipe out of the house down to a 6 or 4 in pipe?

Answer
Hello Tosha, not sure why you need to or want to reduce the pipe? all chimneys are sized to the unit they service, so if it is a 8" solid flue you can not, if it is for oil or gas then maybe. I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep www.csia.org, (there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have they should be able to help.
Hope this helps
James
