Question
I have a Fisher woodburning stove with a top mounted vent. The pipe, 6", is vertical for 34" and then horizontal for 19" through the wall to the chimney. I want to install a damper in the vent pipe. Is it best to install it in the vertical or horizontal section of the pipe?

Answer
Hello Charlie, I would say follow the owners manual, with out it I would not add a damper to the pipe. You might cause a fire. If you are dead set on installing it any way most are in the vertical pipe but those stove's are designed to have it there
