Question
Is there a certain direction that an outdoor fireplace should face for optimum "performance"?...How important is it to take into account summer/winter wind direction?  Also, I can find charts on sizing an indoor fireplace for width of opening, height, depth, etc., but are there different standards for outdoor fireplaces?  I would appreciate any help.  Thank you!

Answer
Hello John, I would start with your local building department for what is required in your area (size of opening for size of flue), then maybe talk to local masons (get price's and pick there brain)
I do not do that much "outdoor fireplace" building
