Question

SPARK ARRESTOR
I was wondering if it is easy to fix this problem. The spark arrestor and a 4' tall (tube?) fell off the chimney. Are these parts custom made or readily available at a hardware store? Is there a lot of work involved with this project? We just got the property I'd like to save some money by doing this with my bro-in-law. Thanks!

Answer
Hello Giovanni, it looks like a Prefab chimney and cap, and if so it must be replaced with the exact same pipe, some where there is a "tag" on the pipe or fireplace and that should let you know what type of pipe (metal bestose, ICC Excel, Duravent)
you cannot use 2 different pipes together. DO NOT USE THIS SYSTEM until it is repaired correctly or replaced completely.
I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep www.csia.org, (there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have they should be able to help.
Hope this helps
