Question
Hello. I have a Phoenix Wood
stove by Hearthstone stoves. It requires a The Phoenix requires a 6" (152 mm) inside diameter flue for new installations. My question: what to look for? What gauge should it be?  How much insulation (should I have) inside the chimney? Best brands? etc.
I plan on hiring a contractor and get a building permit of course. Thank you.

Answer
Hello Sharon, I use Ventinox (only welded seam) and depending on the size of the flue 1-2 layers of 1/2 of blanket wrap insulation, you may need to oval the last 3 feet to get it through the damper (or you could cut the damper saddle out) then back to round for the connection.
I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep www.csia.org, (there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have, they should be able to help.
Hope this helps
James
