Question
My fireplace has a new S/S 6 inch liner. Placed down, top to bottom through the old terra cotta. I have recently gotten a beautiful wood stove from a friend. It will fit in the fireplace. Problem is the outlet is 8" on the stove. The flue is maybe 6" x 24". Can I reduce the stove opening?

No, your stove will be listed system, tested for safety with six inch set up. This will put you in harms way and should be avoided at all cost. You can install an oval shaped liner or a stove that requires a six inch liner. both will set you back a bit. Sorry the bad news. good luck.
