Question
Hello,
We live on Cape Cod. My mother no longer uses her fireplace but she is losing heat up the chimney, even though the damper is closed. I have heard of Styrofoam flue insert blooks, but cannot find vendors. Help.
Thanks.

Answer
Hello John, they make a top mount damper that will go on top of th e chimney and has a cable that runs inside all the way down to open and close, this will allow the chimney to be used when ever you want (or not) it is air tight styrofoam is not.
I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep www.csia.org, (there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have, they should be able to help.
Hope this helps
James
