Chimney & Fireplaces/length of stove pipe

Question
Hi,
I have a Lopi wood stove and just had another stove pipe fire. I thought I was doing everything right - seasoned wood, higher temp fires (500-700), etc. I keep the dampere closed when it hits 500-600. What I'm thinking is that the stove pipe length may be too long - it's 25 ft out the roof. Should I look at shortening that with perhaps one elbow?

Thank you!

Sandy

Answer
Hello Sandy, Elbows reduce draft so no do not do that, the stove might need more frequent cleanings.
I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep www.csia.org, (there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have, they should be able to help.
Hope this helps
James
