Question
QUESTION: Hello, i have a wood stove with 8 inch pipe, and in getting ready to install a 6 inch triple wall chimney .. is this ok to do ? it will slow the draft down .. can not find triple wall 8 inch chimney .. thanks , stephen

ANSWER: Hello Stephen, no you can not down size a solid fuel, do you have to use triple wall for the unit you have? other wise an 8" double wall All Fuel will work fine
I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep www.csia.org, (there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have, they should be able to help.
Hope this helps

QUESTION: Hello,,what will happen if I hook it up that way ??from 8 inch out of stove to 6 inch triple wall flue thru the roof ..it seems to be doing fine ..Thanks

Answer
Welcome back, it will not draw right, will smoke, and build up faster, is against building code, no sweep will clean it,  biggest issue is if you have a chimney fire it might void your home owners insurance.
Do it right and it will work right, do it wrong and it could be deadly.
