Chimney & Fireplaces/Block chimney install

Question
Is a block chimney on the outside of a house a bad idea?  I could potentialy put it inside but it would greatly complicate the job, not to mention money.  Any thoughts? Thank you!

Answer
Hello Kyle, not sure what you want to do, either way a masonry chimney needs footing so I would have you speak to your local building department. if this is for a fireplace and or a heating flue then I would say you could do a "pre Fab" system (speak to your local wood stove store or builder).
You could have a local Certified Chimney Sweep www.csia.org, (there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have, they should be able to help.
Hope this helps
