Chimney & Fireplaces/wood stove

Question
I want to remove a free standing fire place and use a wood stove
in its place. Can I use the Heatilor Mark 700 chimney that starts at the ceiling with a reducer. The stove has 6" flue opening I think the 700 is 9". Should I use new 6" pipe up to chimney or can use a reducer and the old pipe. This is in a weekend lake cabin. Trying to be low cost on this, but want to be safe, and have the stove work right.

Answer
Hello Bill, you would have to check with Heatilor to see if they would allow it, also check with your local building department for you local codes. you should keep the 6" as far as you can go then up size at the ceiling (6 to 9 is  more than double the Cross Sectional Inches 6=28 CSI, 9=64 CSI",  difference 36CSI) they might let you re line the 9" with a 6" insulated liner. check with Heatilor and building department
