Hello. My metal chimney requires an addition foot of clearance above the roof. Do I simply buy a length of chimney and attach it somehow? And if so, how does it attach?

Hello James, first you have to find the same type/manufacture of pipe as you can not mix two different kinds. When you do they either snap lock, twist or screw together follow manufactures instructions on how it attaches, Check with your local building department also.
I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep www.csia.org, (there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have, they should be able to help.
