Question
re. FLUE FOR HOT WATER HEATER

Dear Mr. James Ball:

My hot water heater flue goes to one side of the house and my floor gas heater's flue goes out to the opposite side of the house. both are in the basement. Is there any problem if I remove the HWH flue and connect a new horizontal run to the one from the floor heater? In another word, can one flue take care of the two?

Answer
Hello Makoto, depending on length of that run, size of the flue and fuel type, you might be able to, I would check with your local building department and have a local Certified Chimney Sweep www.csia.org, (there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have, they should be able to help.
Hope this helps
James
